What’s the Word?

So usually around this time of year, I join the masses in reflecting on what has transpired these past 12 months. I think of my favorite and most challenging memories from 2017—and then I let my mind go blank. The first word that pops into my head is what best describes the thoughts, feelings, and events that resonated with me. For 2017 my word was INSIGHTFUL.

I learned a lot about myself and what I am capable of. I became more involved in my community. I started really (really!) paying attention to people around me and the vibe that I give off. I was more politically active then I’ve ever been—writing Postcards to Voters and typing out lots of messages to my members of Congress. I donated both time and talent to many deserving organizations and received far more than I’d ever imagined in return. I engaged my mind to learn new skills, took several online classes and started the practice of quiet meditation.

My hope for 2018 is to build on this foundation of insight and use what I’ve learned to engage others. You, like me, may feel tiny on this huge planet, but small gestures should not be underestimated—they can have a large impact. Let’s be a community of doers.

Best wishes for a Happy New Year to all of my clients and friends!
